The 1.5-mile (2.4-kilometer) tri-oval in Joliet, Illinois, inaugurated in 2001, Chicago's speedway. It is a home for NASCAR in the Chicago area, hosting the Chase for the Sprint Cup's first race. It was also a site for open-wheel racing until recently, and it can brag of having hosted the IndyCar Series' closest ever finish. The $130 million Speedway, which seats 75,000 people, is the largest venue in the area. Chicagoland Speedway is located southwest of Chicago, Illinois, near Joliet, Illinois. Both of Chicago's major airports are within easy driving distance: Midway International Airport is 42 miles away (about a 40-minute trip), and O'Hare International Airport is 50 miles away. The circuit is accessible by vehicle from I-80, exit 132 onto Highway 52, and following signs to the circuit.
