Job Description

Chief Quality Officer (Physician) Health Services Division Headquarters - Tumwater, WA The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly experienced and Board Certified Physician to serve as the critical leadership role of Chief Quality Officer within the Health Services Division. This is a full time permanent position located at the Department's Headquarters in Tumwater, WA. Chief Quality Officer supports the mission by enhancing the overall quality of care provided to the incarcerated population. This includes proving care that is accessible, efficient and delivered in a thoughtful professional manner. Duties:The Chief Quality Officer develops and approves applicable continuous quality Improvement initiatives under the Coordinated Quality Improvement Plan (CQIP), including a plan and a timetable to assess the efficiency of corrective measures. The continuous quality improvement program allows monitoring and evaluation of the activities of each medical unit in each DOC facility; also, individual staff performance Is assessed. In this role you will Partner with clinical leads of dental, nursing, physical therapy, pharmacy and mental health to develop comprehensive care team approach to healthcare within DOC. Some of the job duties: Identify and implement CQIP measures and Initiatives to advance interdisciplinary care Support Health Services through L&I processes to optimize outcome for patients and direct appropriate stewardship of resources. This Includes developing /improving processes for managing claims and improving communication with patients. Provide clinical guidance to Occupational Nurse Consultant's and Human Resource staff as needed to assist in resolving injured worker cases or returning injured staff back to work. Participate in Death Review process and address transition of care process gaps for patient hand-offs at re-entry, EMP, community care, and violators Develop processes and monitoring to proactively reduce Health Services medical-related grievances. Improve communication with patients and help spread best practices across facilities Qualifications: Completed an accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine AND be Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (if Board Eligible incumbent will have 12 months to become Board Certified from the date of hiring). Prior experience in medical management, utilization review and managed care program. Proven leadership experience in project management in a healthcare environment. Demonstrated skills in staff supervision and organizational management. Certification or significant experience in MAT DESIRED:Relevant board certification (Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Occupational Medicine or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or Pain Management) or minimum five years direct experience in quality assurance, Lean practices, health care system or health services compliance with evidence based practices. Understands the unique challenges of providing medical services in the corrections setting.
