About Child Welfare Specialist

What does a Child Welfare Specialist do?

As Child Welfare Specialists, we ensure the welfare and well-being of children and their families from situations of abuse, neglect, and other forms of maltreatment. We ensure the physical, social, psychological, and emotional well-being of our clients by making home visits to investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect to provide assessments determining if the legal guardian or parent is suitable to look after the child. We document and maintain case files of families to keep track of every child taken away from their families temporarily or permanently and placed in foster care homes.

Core tasks:

  • ensure healthy upbringing of a child
  • investigate cases of children abuse
  • determine if a parent is fit to take care of a child
  • keep records of all children in foster care
