Lays offs, micro managing, morale was horrible. I was at Cigna for 7 years and got laid off after being told there were plenty of job opportunities coming from the commercial side.
Pros and Cons
The pay was decent, flexibility
Micro managing, disorganized, no room for promotion

Don’t waste your time if you’re looking for longevity or growth. Toxic culture and management, abusive treatment and clicky high school politics.
Pros and Cons
There were no perks
Horrendous management

Medical Claims Processor
Chattanooga, TN - January 30, 2024
It was my pleasure to earn and exercise the confidence to process and manage high profile accounts. Example: I was assigned the Screen Actor’s guild medical review for payments and communication with the insured. This may not appear remarkable, but I was and still am the holder of the sensitive medical concerns of the very famous. The calls from actors concerned about bills, famous actors having heartbreaking medical conditions and of course the concerns regarding financial ramifications of such needed treatment it all stayed to this day locked within my confidence. As a company we needed to perform high quality service with professionalism in processing and representation. I believe UNUM has worked hard these years to address issues. I was the first award winner of Excellence and I would appreciate the opportunity to return and with each day I will help UNUM earn an award and reputation for excellence in service as well.
Pros and Cons
The managers were personable. I felt they were encouraged to know &apply their strengths.
Accessing the degree of disability Is not always clear, but good staff with good communication helps

CIGNA was a great place to work. I enjoyed working with everyone and every department at CIGNA. Always a willingness to help each other out for our members.
My department manager always made herself available in order for her team to make an effective decision that benefited our members. Because we had such a supportive company our outreach endeavors made an impact on the agency or community we worked with. This positive environment made our job more worthwhile in what we were doing.
Pros and Cons
My manager, great benefits, yearly company picnic and Chrismas party.
None, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cigna, sad when they sold there Medicaid side.

I worked with Cigna over six years I left the company because of an opportunity to increase my earnings. Cigna is one of the best companies I've
worked for.
Pros and Cons
During the busiest season Cigna provided free lunch to the sales team.
Reps were expected to meet their goals even if they were out on vacation.

Where to begin. Always being short staffed by one RN. Front office personnel were not team players they were rude and inconsiderate. Making the work environment even more stressful.. physicians, back office and medical records personnel were great. Upper management absolutely awful!!
Pros and Cons
Some of the coworkers and work schedule
Nobody in upper management or human resources care about their employees

The management at Cigna is purely for upper management. The employees are not protected from uncooperative patients. The Ethics line is for reporting incidents or mismanagement that have occurred to yourself. The process is one-sided. You "the employee" are treated with disrespect and no way is it a fair assessment.
A supervisor that cannot complete his duties and has been complained of by employees, doctors, other supervisors automatically gets promoted to manager. The employees and doctors have no run of their department. Upper management is in total control.
Rules are broken. Assaults have happened by supervisors to employees with no punishments or apologies.
Advancement is not possible as Cigna does not have the latest equipment in their facilities. If you want to advance in the company it is very difficult if you start as "just an employee". There is not any review meetings with employees as to their goals or what they wish to learn.
Doctors aren't accountable.
Pros and Cons
The only plus is the benefits,
So many it is hard to assess.

I was a temporary contractor from 10/2021 to 2/2022. Training was paid and for 6-7 weeks, but you couldn’t miss any days. The job was decent to me, call volume wasn’t high. I took about 7-10 between each call on average. Sometimes I’d go 30 min without a call which was nice. Management is bare minimum, rarely replied to me which was annoying. It’s like they want you to reach out to them but they never reply… so what’s the point? Cigna and the staffing company didn’t give me any notice of the end of my assignment until an hour before I clocked out on Friday for the weekend. Very abrupt, thank god I was in the position to where I could be without a job for a while. Neither company gave me an end date when I accepted the opportunity. I also worked M-F, 8-4:30pm and they’d be pretty uncooperative when I had appointments, stating to schedule them outside of working hours; when we all know 8-4:30 is pretty much when appointments are scheduled..
Pros and Cons
Work from home, Medium call volume, decent pay, set schedule
Unresponsive admin, phone work, didn’t want you to take any time off

I’ve been here for about 3 years. Working in the customer support department. They are constantly firing and hiring people. While working here you’re always on edge that you’re going to lose your job. None of the managers are on the same page. There’s little to no growth in the company.
Pros and Cons
Pay, weekends off
Managers don’t care for you, favoritism in the work place, no compassion
