MIAMI is the county seat of Miami-Dade County, Florida's most populous county, nestled between the Everglades and Biscayne National Parks. The city is renowned as the 'Magic City' and encompasses a total area of 56.6 square miles. According to the most current U.S. Census estimates, MIAMI is home to 441,003 people. The City of MIAMI, along with the cities of MIAMI Beach and Miami-Dade County, was selected as a regional participant in the Rockefeller Foundation's 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) global network in 2016. MIAMI is a Future City, and as such, it is dealing with rising sea levels and climate change. The city is actively courting public-private partnerships in order to advance its ambitious climate resilience strategy, which includes non-infrastructure measures like land use building rules, planning and hurricane preparedness.
