The City of South Bend is the St. Joseph County, situated in the St. Joseph river in the Indiana region. The Chief Executive of the City of South Bend is James Mueller. He is the third mayor appointed in 2020. South Bend city is well known for higher education, health care services, economic and manufacturing industries. The city was founded by the first permanent settler called Pierre Navarre in 1820. South Bend City was laid out as a county seat with 128 residents in 1831. It is a home for the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary's College, Holy cross College, Indiana University and Ivy Tech community college, healthcare centers, administration offices, government offices, and district offices.
