Founded in 1847, the City University of New York (CUNY) is a renowned urban public university of the country. the first free public institution of higher education in the country, CUNY possesses seven community colleges, 11 senior colleges and seven graduate or professional colleges located in New York City and has 500,000 students. CUNY is awarding 55,000 degrees each year wherein over 80 percent graduates of the university stay in New York and contribute to the economic, civic, and cultural life of New York city and diversifying the city’s workforce in every sector.
