What does a Client Relationship Manager do?

As client relations managers, we are sales professionals who aim to ensure that our clients are satisfied with our company’s services. We work to build, maintain, and strengthen the relationship of our company with the client. We may also assist the sales team in establishing relationships with potential clients. In some organizations, we are responsible for guiding and supervising a team of client services specialists. The exact nature of our role however largely depends on the industry our organization is in.

Core tasks:

  • serving as a primary point of contact and overall relationship manager for assigned clients
  • monitoring client satisfaction
  • delivering programs to increase client satisfaction
  • training clients on proper use of services
  • serving as the liaison between client and internal teams such as technical
  • identifying and pursuing upsell opportunities
  • attending events as a representative of the company
