The company would eventually become CLS Investments under Mr. Clarke's leadership. W. Patrick Clarke started his career as a stockbroker in 1972, at a time when many others were struggling to make ends meet. He left that role in 1975 to concentrate on developing highly personalized financial plans and investment management options for individual investors. He started partnering with other financial advisors as a third-party asset manager when they expressed a need for this form of the individualized approach. Mr. Clarke was a founding partner of Clarke Lanzen Skalla Investment Company, LLC, an independent asset allocation firm, in 1989.
