This role sits within what we call the "Funnel" team. They are the face of Funding Circle and work passionately to make sure small businesses have an incredible experience in getting the funding they need.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking an experienced Collections Specialist to join our Servicing & Collections team in Downtown Denver. You will be responsible for contacting customers with delinquent accounts, initiating appropriate action, maintaining records, and providing a high level of customer service to help our customers get back on track. You will be part of an innovative Servicing Collections and Recoveries team developing best practices & processes.
  • Review status of delinquent accounts and initiate action, which would include notifying customers of delinquent status based on due date, prepare correspondence for special handling, and skip tracing
  • Communicate and coordinate customer account information to a variety of departments and participate in weekly/monthly meetings to report status on assigned delinquent accounts
  • Research disputed delinquent account balances, correct errors, work misapplied payments, reversed late charges, direct deposit errors, and overpayment errors
  • Negotiate and process ACH payments, while setting up payment plans to bring accounts current
Are you?
  • Excellent Customer Service and Satisfaction skills
  • 1-3 years of experience in call center operations, collections, lending, customer service, sales
  • Contact customers (outbound calls/inbound calls/emails) to secure payments by negotiating payment in full, payment arrangements and payment terms. Previous experience with both dialer and manual calls
  • Meet/Exceed KPI and Production Targets
  • Be solution oriented with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations and simplify complex processes and make them easier for our borrowers
  • Handle difficult conversations with the ability to overcome objections
  • Ability to quickly identify issues, and have worked in an established framework, raise issues quickly to Leads and Managers as needed
  • Deadline oriented, self-starter with the ability to work independently and directly contact a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Thrives in a strong culture of open communication, teamwork, curiosity to make things better, getting things done, and brings their passion to work
  • Proficiency in MIcrosoft Office and Salesforce a plus

*Colorado Only* Base Salary range of $46,000 to $53,000 + monthly cash incentives + equity + benefits

Tasks

  • Record information about financial status of customers and status of collection efforts.
  • Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail, telephone, or personal visits to solicit payment.
  • Locate and monitor overdue accounts, using computers and a variety of automated systems.
  • Arrange for debt repayment or establish repayment schedules, based on customers' financial situations.
  • Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment.
  • Answer customer questions regarding problems with their accounts.
  • Persuade customers to pay amounts due on credit accounts, damage claims, or nonpayable checks, or to return merchandise.
  • Confer with customers by telephone or in person to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review the terms of sales, service, or credit contracts.
  • Receive payments and post amounts paid to customer accounts.
  • Trace delinquent customers to new addresses by inquiring at post offices, telephone companies, credit bureaus, or through the questioning of neighbors.
  • Notify credit departments, order merchandise repossession or service disconnection, and turn over account records to attorneys when customers fail to respond to collection attempts.
  • Sort and file correspondence and perform miscellaneous clerical duties, such as answering correspondence and writing reports.
  • Perform various administrative functions for assigned accounts, such as recording address changes and purging the records of deceased customers.
  • Contact insurance companies to check on status of claims payments and write appeal letters for denial on claims.
  • Negotiate credit extensions when necessary.
