The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDC) is the foremost branch of the Colorado state government that operates the state jails. It has its base camp in the Springs Office Park in El Paso County, Colorado, close to Colorado Springs. The Colorado Department of Corrections runs 20 state-run penitentiaries and furthermore has been partnered with 7 revenue-driven jails in Colorado, of which the state presently contracts with 3 for-benefit prisons.
