During my masters at Columbia University I applied for several graduate mentorship positions. I ended up matching with Dr. Yian Gu who is affiliated with the Alzheimer's Institute, Taub Institute, and Columbia University as well. The incredibly advanced and profound research being conducted under Dr. Gu allowed me to further research on association amongst cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline. My coding skills and data analysis skills were sharpened tremendously, resulting in a publication in a high impact journal. I am grateful for this incredible learning experience.

This research program didn't last long enough. My coworkers and me had to go and find another job. The payment per hour was low, but fair enough. Columbia is a good university to work for and at. Good environment, people treat you well. I liked it 😉

Pros and Cons
friendly people, safe place to work at, place to learn
only lasts the lenght of the study, after the study ends no more job, low payment
