The Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) is a state library facility in Franklin County, Ohio, Columbus Metropolitan Area. The library is a collection of the Primary Library and 22 branches situated in the communities of Franklin County. Columbus Metropolitan Library is a member of the Central Library Consortium, which allows the 17-member library systems to exchange catalogues. The library covers an area of 872,000 people, has a collection of 1,483,433 volumes and propagates 17,262,267 items per year. The Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) system strives to encourage literacy, share information and connect people through its various services and events. These programmes target different classes within their varied patronage. CML offers Homework Aid Centers to all 23 CML sites. Hennen's American Public Library Scores rated CML as the best library system representing a community of 500,000 or more in 1999, 2005 and 2008. In 2010, CML was designated Library of the Year by the Library Magazine.
