After working there for three years I saw many caregivers, schedulers and management come and go. I had at least three new office managers about a new one each year. It was hard for them to pass along and implement the same standards and rules. I was fired for being an hour late while being employee of the month twice in the last six months working for the company and while having health issues for the first time in the three years while working Comfort keepers. I did receive unemployment for wrongful termination but my 89 year old client was the one who was most traumatized from the experience with Comfort keepers of Durango. Without notification they entered his home and told me to leave. When they told him I was fired. he quit services immediately with them, and asked them to leave his home. I would stay far from this company they are a puppy mill for employees and do not care about the individual.

Pros and Cons
a rewarding job
bad management to work for

Mary Anne Thompson8 weeks ago
It's unsettling to hear that management doesn't value punctuality and employee health as much as public recognition. It's doubly troubling to think about the impact that this kind of turnover and communication style can have on older clients

It’s an okay way to start out in the healthcare field and make money in the side. The pay could be more and communication could be better. The problem is the shortage of good clients. Most clients only want you for about 2 hours and the distance is usually quite far. So most of your money goes to gas. They do not cover mileage to a client but they will between clients if you are going one after another. The problem is these clients are spread far and wide so it’s not much of a help.

Pros and Cons
Flexible schedule
Not enough clients, low pay, lots of travel
