Description
The Head of Credit, Project Finance (HC) is responsible for leading the underwriting, approval process, monitoring, and reporting of the renewable energy projects for Huntington National Bank (HNB)'s Renewable Energy Finance (REF) group.
The REF group originates project finance / non-recourse transactions for solar and wind using construction finance, sale and leaseback, back-levered debt, and partnership tax equity structures.
Experience in project finance credit underwriting is required.
Responsibilities
Assist deal team with transaction structuring and negotiation, optimizing balance of commercial and risk factors
Lead the review and underwriting of renewable energy project financing, including:
+ Off-taker credit analysis
+ Underwriting material contracting counterparties
+ Review of material project agreements
+ Review of sponsor/developer credit
+ Review of financial pro-forma and underlying assumptions
+ Review of outside consultant reports
Represent transaction in credit committees, support transaction closing approval process
Support REF analysis and decision making on new markets, technologies, and equipment vendors
Monitor HNB REF policies and procedures for all the above, identify and address any gaps based on industry best practice experience
Optimize HNB internal understanding and support for the risk underwriting aspects of renewable energy financing and REF policies
Ensure compliance with policies while maintaining a 'constant improvement' mentality and implement improvements to policies as identified
Basic Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree
+ Minimum 5 years' experience in credit underwriting of transactions up to $50MM
Preferred Qualifications
+ Project finance underwriting experience (minimum 5 years, 7 years or more preferred)
+ Experience in Project Finance, which could include; Solar, Wind, and Energy Projects
+ Experience working for financial institution required
+ Strong analytical and reporting skills
+ Strong organizational and leadership skills
+ Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
+ Ability to travel as needed
