About Commodity Specialist

What does a Commodity Specialist do?

As Commodity Specialists, we are responsible for achieving cost-effectiveness and setting-up of supplier base and assisting in adhering to quality norms through resource and techniques evaluation. We develop and consolidate business relations and assist suppliers and staff through research. Not only that, we have to aid in keeping project cost-effective by controlling costs and enhancing benefits and train departments towards the best interests of the company.

Core tasks:

  • managing commodity procurement according to specifications and building strategies to Encourage high levels of supplier performance
  • advising appropriately on commodity trends and budgets and collaborating with and lead Commodity manager on required issues
  • attending business meetings and keep updated on developments and initiating and maintain external and internal communications
  • developing plans for better negotiations and cost reduction and determining and resolve commodity-related issues
