POSITION PURPOSE

The Communication Specialist primary responsibilities include the creation of relevant content, the management of created content, and the deployment of the materials to the prescribed customer base. In addition to these tasks, this individual will provide support in developing, implementing, and executing statewide brand strategies, stakeholder communication, public relations, and reputation management. Additional responsibilities may include managing and developing all communications including but not limited to: press releases and media list management, web-site content management, stakeholder and promotional initiatives, publications, reports, etc. This role must work closely with IT personnel to ensure marketing automation is up and running effectively to reach the appropriate constituents, with the events manager to ensure invitations and materials convey professional and consistent messaging, and the Entrepreneurs-in-Residence to ensure statewide constituents are getting the support they need to build their ecosystem.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

●  Work directly with the marketing and events team to develop content for email campaigns

●  Manage the development of an effective marketing automation platform to ensure appropriate individuals are receiving the correct information from regional and statewide content initiatives

●  Generate, edit, and manage content for web, social media, print, and other media

●  Monitor and manage Elevate’s reputation management activities

●  Manage vital relationships with key partners, stakeholders, portfolio companies and investment partners

●  Ensure Elevate staff has access to the appropriate materials, presentations, handouts, etc. that will enable them to be more effective in external communications including interviews, media relations and daily duties

●  Support the management of external marketing, design, and content curation contractors

●  Produce copy and assist with the design production of stakeholder communication such as the annual report, stakeholder reports, grant reports, press releases, articles, and more

●  Support investment team with their report and marketing initiatives specific to SBIR/STTR, fund investment announcements, funding events, and data publications

●  Other projects as needed on an ad-hoc basis

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

●  A BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, public policy, or journalism

●  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must – verbal and written (please include a writing sample with your application)

●  Experience with investment management, business and/or entrepreneurial companies in a similar outreach role a plus

●  Experience with the development and workflows of marketing platforms is a plus. Knowledge of Pardot and Salesforce and how they interact is a plus.

●  Analytical skill and good judgment, with ability to gather and digest information quickly and work in a fast-paced environment
