About Computational Biologist

What does a Computational Biologist do?

As Computational Biologists, we are responsible for creating targeted sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, and whole-genome assembly workflows. We develop long-term genetic strategies to suit commercial objectives. We develop insights into the biogeography of soil-borne diseases and biological markers of soil health. Generating internal intellectual property (IP) is also a part of our duty. We develop sensitivity and specificity of analytics from genomic information in collaboration with the data science team. Working as Computational Biologists, we are responsible for recommending the best-targeted metrics for run evaluation and data quality. We work closely with scientists and product managers to inform product upgrades. Finally, we troubleshoot problems in new ways and create test cases.

Core tasks:

  • communicating with cross-functional teams
  • interacting closely with scientists across industry
  • driving data acquisition strategies
  • engaging with the scientist community to stay updated
