CONTRACT INSTRUCTOR PILOT/SME

The F-35 Instructor Pilot/SME instructs academic training utilizing Electronic Mediated Lecture (EML) and/or Interactive Courseware (ICW) and instructs flight procedures in the Pilot Training Devices executing to the approved pilot training syllabus. Instructor will provide instruction using the Full Mission Simulators (FMS). The instructor will operate Instructor Operating Stations (IOS) and will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all pilot training courseware updates.

Must be willing to travel, to include Squadron CONUS/OCONUS deployments for extended periods depending on operational needs.
Position may require the ability to perform in an arduous duty environment and subject to all applicable U.S. Government requirements.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

This position is located at a facility that will require special access clearance

Must have an active secret clearance with a completed investigation within the last 5 years.
Must be able to attain and maintain F-35 Special Access Program (SAP) access
Candidates must have a final/transferrable DoD Secret security clearance
Must be a US citizen

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree and 8 year's work experience or equivalent experience

DESIRED SKILLS

1,000 hours experience in fourth and/or fifth generation tactical fighter aircraft as a pilot is highly desired.
Experience with F-35 program highly desire
Past experience with F-35 pilot training curriculum
Familiarity with F-35 program requirements
F-35 system knowledge
F-35 Full Mission Simulator experience
Familiarity with the F-35 ALIS program
Prior experience in delivering Military Pilot Academic and Simulator Training in fourth and/or fifth generation tactical fighter aircraft
Experience with advanced sensor systems such as NVS, LANTIRN, Helmet Mounted Cuing, and the latest weapons inventory.
Graduate of formal military Academic Instructor Course (AIC).
Formal Training Unit (FTU) or Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) Instructor Pilot experience. Fighter Weapons Instructor Course (FWIC)
Top Gun: Weapons Tactics Instructor (WTI) graduate.
Standardization/Evaluation Flight Examiner (SEFE); NATOPS Evaluator experience
Experience with training management systems (TMS), learning management systems (LMS), and electronic grade books.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate must meet the following basic requirements:
Must have a minimum of 1,000 hours experience in tactical fighter aircraft as a pilot.
Must have experience as a Military Instructor Pilot (IP) and multi-ship flight lead in tactical fighter aircraft.
Must be willing to support flexible work hours to align with customer operational schedule.
Position may require candidate to participate in deployed operations to support customer requirements.
Strong, proven verbal communications skills
Proven successful experience with instructional products and services, evaluating pilot training and leading pilot students
Basic MS Office suite skills

Tasks

Work as part of a flight team with other crew members, especially during takeoffs and landings.

Use instrumentation to guide flights when visibility is poor.

Start engines, operate controls, and pilot airplanes to transport passengers, mail, or freight, adhering to flight plans, regulations, and procedures.

Contact control towers for takeoff clearances, arrival instructions, and other information, using radio equipment.

Monitor gauges, warning devices, and control panels to verify aircraft performance and to regulate engine speed.

Respond to and report in-flight emergencies and malfunctions.

Steer aircraft along planned routes, using autopilot and flight management computers.

Check passenger and cargo distributions and fuel amounts to ensure that weight and balance specifications are met.

Monitor engine operation, fuel consumption, and functioning of aircraft systems during flights.

Inspect aircraft for defects and malfunctions, according to pre-flight checklists.

Choose routes, altitudes, and speeds that will provide the fastest, safest, and smoothest flights.

Confer with flight dispatchers and weather forecasters to keep abreast of flight conditions.

Direct activities of aircraft crews during flights.

Brief crews about flight details, such as destinations, duties, and responsibilities.

Order changes in fuel supplies, loads, routes, or schedules to ensure safety of flights.

Record in log books information, such as flight times, distances flown, and fuel consumption.

Make announcements regarding flights, using public address systems.

Perform minor maintenance work, or arrange for major maintenance.

Test and evaluate the performance of new aircraft.

Coordinate flight activities with ground crews and air traffic control and inform crew members of flight and test procedures.

File instrument flight plans with air traffic control to ensure that flights are coordinated with other air traffic.

Conduct in-flight tests and evaluations at specified altitudes and in all types of weather to determine the receptivity and other characteristics of equipment and systems.

Instruct other pilots and student pilots in aircraft operations and the principles of flight.

Plan and formulate flight activities and test schedules and prepare flight evaluation reports.

Load smaller aircraft, handling passenger luggage and supervising refueling.

Evaluate other pilots or pilot-license applicants for proficiency.
