Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. is a restaurant and gift store chain with a Southern country theme. Locations were at first positioned near Interstate highway exits in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States, but have expanded across the country during the 1990s and 2000s. Today, the chain operates 660 stores in 45 states. Cracker Barrel's menu is based on traditional Southern cuisine, with appearance and decor designed to resemble an old-fashioned general store. Cracker Barrel partners with country music performers. It engages in charitable activities, such as its assistance of victims of Hurricane Katrina and injured war veterans. Being a part of the Cracker Barrel family means joining a team that truly cares - about guests, about partners, and most importantly - about colleagues. Promoting is based on politics and not merit. The bonus structure has been gutted and is not very attainable and the support from above is non existent. They want you to work yourself ragged and then instead of a thank you they not pick every single thing you do. Would not work there again in hindsight.

Pros and Cons
Free meal, discount
Zero support, do not practice what they preach on hospitality

I struggled with multiple accounts of sexual harassment as a minor with no effort taken by managers to help even when reported. There is also a severe lack of communication between managers and coworkers that made it very hard to schedule and get time off even for family. Even when throwing up and crying my manager told me to still come in because the doctors office wouldn’t be open on sundays, and multiple times managers would not communicate conversations employees had with them to other managers so there would be many holes in story’s and scheduling.

Pros and Cons
Fun to meet new employees and coworkers
No breaks if busy, Bad managers, shady employees

I have worked at this store several times now. So much has changed and not for the better. Not only has the food changed, the Micros, the way you greet your guests, the selling of alcohol has all taken away from the good old-fashioned way things were done. It has lessened the experience of family dining at Cracker Barrel.

Pros and Cons
50% off meals while your working. Greet tips. Fun place.

I loved Cracker Barrel so much they were amazing to me! You get raises when you get another star⭐️ on your apron and it’s embroidered in there along with your name and you get 2 each time! That way you know you are either working or not! They did raffles that were so fun the more tickets you earn throughout the week them more of a chance you have to win like a yanke candle, $25 gas cards. They give out great prizes and are great to you!

Free lunch, break, and lunch and very friendly

This company is crumbling slowly. Staff and management are asked to reach unrealistic expectations from a corporation who hasn’t stepped foot in the field in years. Raises are few and far in between due to the company penny pinching due to them trying to promote alcohol that doesn’t match their brand. This company expects you to sacrifice 100% of your life to them and when you don’t, it’s a problem and you are chastised. Corporate workers are all friends and the only way to move up is if you know the right people. Genuine talent gets overlooked for the friend. Work and life balance is non-existent and the staff is not compensated for the amount of unrealistic expectations this company has. I have worked for this company for almost 6 years and worked every position from server to assistant manager. This is not a company for anyone trying to build a career unless you know someone in corporate.

I loved working here, but there were a few times that I would be standing up front taking names on the wait list an hour to an hour and a half past when I was supposed to go home. Also, some of the waitresses were rude to me and some of the other hostesses. I would tell the managers about them, and they said not to worry about the waitresses and that they’ll handle it. The issue was never resolved. They continued to be rude to us. This is why I left.

Pros and Cons
Nice management, separate app for your schedule, an app for recognitions, nice guests

The most unprofessional experience, and environment in ohio. Kids were on their cell phones watching internet videos, making evening plans, and simply ignoring paying customers, waiting on their orders. This place should be shut down for health and safety violations.

I was an associate manager for almost two years at various locations. I transferred twice, so in total I managed at 3 different locations. The good thing is the salary is unbeatable and the benefits are really good, the bad thing is the work/life balance. If you’re married, or have children I would NOT recommend this as a career move. Unless you want to divorce and allow your children to grow not knowing their parent. The environment can also get really stressful depending on volume and the time of year (ex. Thanksgiving), lastly, there’s some scandals that go on in the workplace that you don’t want to associate yourself with. Good company, bad hiring, and not a good quality of life due to demands.
