About Credentialing Specialist

What does a Credentialing Specialist do?

As Credentialing Specialists, we are responsible for adequately processing initial credentialing and re-credentialing applications as well as screening every practitioner’s applications and supporting documentation to check their eligibility. We assist with the new-hire process by reviewing the information contained in job applications and matching it with resumes to ensure that each selected applicant meets all licensing and credential requirements for the specific position that is being applied for. We are also responsible for contacting licensing boards, conducting background checks, and reviewing license applications, and interview the references in order to make sure that the personnel operating in the facility complies with state and federal regulations.

Core tasks:

  • review how services are being handled and ensure that they comply with federal regulations
  • ensure that facility-specific rules and regulations comply with internal processes
  • create adequate training and educational programs to train future physician credentialing specialists
