About Credit and Collections Specialist

What does a Credit and Collections Specialist do?

As Credit and Collections Specialists, we are responsible for following up on unpaid invoices and interacting with customers through phone and email. We examine payment patterns to determine which invoices need a follow-up. We analyze delinquent accounts to spot and resolve problems. Resolving any payment-related issues with customers is also a part of our duty. We make recommendations to subordinates on how to handle more complex accounts. Working as Credit and Collections Specialists, we are responsible for communicating with customers in an easy-to-understand manner. We collaborate with internal business partners to accelerate working capital programs. Finally, we maintain files and records following company policy.

Core tasks:

  • contacting customers to receive past due amounts
  • recording all communication with customers to maintain a history
  • resending invoices as per organizational standards
  • sending statements for delinquent as required
