About Critical Care Registered Nurse

What does a Critical Care Registered Nurse do?

As Critical Care Registered Nurses, we specialize in administering health care to patients who are gravely injured or ill. We carry out diagnostic tests and help in identifying needs, altering the care plans to fit them. We perform therapeutic procedures following the clinical status of the patient. It is our job to evaluate the vital signs and lab test results of the patients to determine possible emergency intervention requirements. We provide various forms of support and advocate for the patients and their family members. Critical care registered nurses help explain the conditions and treatment plans to the patients to ensure proper recovery.

Core tasks:

  • administering medication and setting up medical devices and equipment
  • monitoring the progress and changes in the patient, as well as fluid intake and output
  • assessing the pain levels of the patient and sedation requirements
  • completing all the required paperwork before transferring a patient
