About Curatorial Assistant

What does a Curatorial Assistant do?

As Curatorial Assistants, we provide support to curatorial projects initiated within the department. We gather and analyze art historical and scholarly texts, visual and object location information, and budgetary data. We coordinate the safe retrieval and return to the storage of collection pieces. We also assist in the creation and assembly of pieces for display.

Core tasks:

  • scheduling and coordinating the routine aspects of day-to-day usage of the collection
  • assisting in exhibition curation as directed to include retrieval of materials
  • providing information and answers or referring questions about the group as needed
  • performing general collections duties, including assistance with collection acquisitions and loans
  • performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
