I never got the recognition that I deserved. I worked hard and gave them my all. And they hardly gave me hours. When I was walking to my job, when it had icxe and lots of snow on the ground, they never called me to tell me that they were going to open later than when I was supposed to be there.

Pros and Cons
I liked making their Dilly bars
The manager and Assistant manager were married but, very rude to me.

Working at Dairy Queen was the best. We never issued any attitudes but most of the people came with them already. Let me tell you it's a lot easier training someone who come with a good attitude and is ready to learn but others come with a different agenda. Sometimes they just have a problem with authority and I like to identify those people and help them out the door. .And then we have the able and the disabled. I'm more occasions than not the able takes a little more babysitting than the disabled. I wouldn't ask anything of you that you weren't capable of , but enable person wouldn't use their cell phone and plain sight in front of you they'll go ahead in the cooler and do it. When i go check on my disable associate he is doing exactly what I asked of him. Thank you for the life experience Dairy Queen I'll keep you in my best thoughts

Pros and Cons
This is not on the menu but I always made myself a two-piece on a bun and it was great

Another lead almost made me lose my job by spreading rumors about me and making people believe what was untrue. She eventually was no longer allowed to work at that location because she was bullying the GM. Most hires do not make valuable employees and management refuses to pay you more when you deserve it from hard work and customer satisfaction. I made 9 an hour as a shift lead. I make more than that as a basic server at Bubba's

I worked seasonally for about 3 years. Technically my first official job. I learned many skills including customer service, time management and money management. I also made some amazing friends with coworkers there. The down side was the expectance to completely turn that job into your life. As a high schooler I had school and school like responsibilities that they didn't care about. It was extremely stressful and often understaffed including the Owner/operators barely being there!

Pros and Cons
None, no benefits of any kinds
Impossible to request time off, very high stressed environment, no benefits

They were quick to train me and it only took a couple days! They are efficient and know how to work with each other rather than around. It’s such a happy and bright place to be and the staff are in a great mood 99% of the time you’re there. Amazing first work experience

I been at dairy queen for years and management is in your business and over work and underpaid. Their is one manager can't do her. Own job stays in the back and plays around and the only time you see her is when owner is there. I use to enjoy being there because of the flexibility but never enjoy it. It's so run down and going in the holee now. They can't get Boone in the building. Moving on.

It was my first job since I graduated fresh out of highschool (2018). The manager was so nice, respectful, and helpful. Our break area wasn't as big as a normal sized room (literally just a corner), and assistant manager was ok-ish. When it came to training thankfully I knew some of my co-workers from school. My co-workers and I would have small little competitions on who was the fastest. Manager was upbeat and smiley most of the time I was there. The manager's daughter worked with us as well and was also same as her mother (manager).

Pros and Cons
Discounted items off menu, friendly co-workers, etc.
Short breaks, no chance to move up, etc.

You will be worked to death for literally minimum wage. Besides the death part, I'm not exaggerating. They don't care about you and will make you work extremely hard for LONG periods of time, for extremely little pay.

We have a few shift leads who are very distracted and don’t know how to treat the rest of their coworkers, and bring drama to the work place. Other than that the rest of the crew are lovely team members and work together to create a good work environment.

Pros and Cons
Good coworkers, work passes quick, and dependable pay
You have long shifts but they still make you pay for the food, no insurance benefits , bad managers

I worked at Dairy Queen my Senior Year in High School and am both very proud and grateful for the experience. I have worked in Customer Service now for over 14 years and would not have begun this journey had it not been for the Owner of the store just behind my high school extending the opportunity. I still miss my co-workers to this day and have no doubt they have progressed and grown from their experiences with Dairy Queen.

This is the second Dairy Queen I’ve worked for and from my experience the management has always been poor. Both locations disregarded child labor laws with regards to hours and scheduling. The constant smell of ice-cream personally makes me nauseous and reminds me of the many months of my childhood wasted within the walls of dq.

Hours, friendly workers, and the discount on food is nice
