Founded in 1769, Dartmouth is a great academic institution in the nation and a member of the Ivy League that combines undergraduate and graduate education with research and scholarship in the Arts and Sciences. Mission of Dartmouth College is to educate students and prepare them for a lifetime learning through faculty dedicated to teaching and the creation of knowledge. Dartmouth has nearly 4,400 undergraduate and 2,100 graduate students. Undergraduate College has over 50 departments and programs. Undergraduate financial aid expenditures were $105.7 million for FY 2019. Average three-term scholarship is nearly $50,800 and approximately 48 percent of undergraduates receive aid. Dartmouth has been classified as having "very high research activity "by the Carnegie Foundation and Sponsored research attracted $203 million in FY 2018. There were 2,938 full time and 328 part time Faculty in 2018. Dartmouth College has been accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
