About Data Entry Clerk

What does a Data Entry Clerk do?

As data entry clerks, we collect data and capture the collected information into databases. Our responsibilities include extracting information from materials and storing the information in hard copies. We follow up and liaise with employees within the organization as well as with clients to collect information. Some of us find and correct errors, and bring them to the notice of relevant parties where necessary. Ensuring data backup and handling additional assigned duties from time to time are also our duties. As data entry clerks, we also create precise spreadsheets.

Core tasks:

  • gathering reports, invoices, documents, and information from employees, other departments, and clients
  • scanning through multiple information to mark pertinent information
  • organizing the information and correcting errors in a manner that optimizes accurate and swift capturing
