Defense Acquisition University (DAU) is headquartered in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and is a corporate university that offers acquisition, technology, and logistics (AT&L) training to Federal contractors, military and Federal civilian staff. DAU was established on the 22nd of October, 1991 and is affiliated with the United States Department of Defense and the US Federal Government, accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), American Council on Education (ACE), and the Council on Occupational Education (COE). The university offers training courses encompassing all defense acquisition workforce members in three certification levels and 14 career fields. The certifications available at DAU include; International Acquisitions, Contracting, Facilities Engineer, Business Cost Estimating, Engineering, Business Financial Management, Information Technology, Purchasing, Life Cycle Logistics, Industrial/Contract Property Management, and several others. When its instructors are not teaching, they are available for consultations, assisting acquisition organizations in designing and reviewing processes and internal training. DAU's mission is to make a global learning environment available to develop qualified acquisition, requirements, and contingency professionals who can sustain and deliver affordable and effective warfighting capabilities.
