What does a Deputy County Attorney do?

As Deputy County Attorneys, we perform prosecution functions and civil representation for the county and county departments, legal representation for clients requiring publicly assisted representation in juvenile, criminal, mental health cases. We are also involved in various matters, including sexual assault, gang, and civil cases.

Core tasks:

  • reviewing incoming police reports & determining if a crime occurred and prosecution is appropriate, drafting legal documents, and filing formal charges
  • participating in all court hearings and pre-trial motions
  • preparing and presenting cases for adjudication or trial
