Product solutions must satisfy both the functional&emotional needs of internal&external stakeholders,&improve healthcare quality, cost,&access metrics. **Essential Responsibilities:** Duties include (but are not limited to): Proactively understanding the unmet needs of customers and end users across all phases of the product cycle by designing and conducting formal research activities that incorporate contextual inquiry, heuristic assessment, survey instruments, usability testing, and related techniques. Representative deliverables include user personas, affinity maps, task analyses, work models, usability test reports, competitor benchmarks, use cases and storyboards. Collaboration with designers to create low- through high-fidelity concepts and prototypes for intuitive and functional hardware, software, and services solutions that are based upon a foundation of user-centered data. Representative deliverables include sketches, workflows and wireframe UI designs, and interactive UI prototypes. Translating concepts and prototypes into formal design requirements and specifications documents. Collaborating across relevant stakeholders to balance user, business, and technical requirements, and to ensure that design recommendations are incorporated within commercialized products. Contributing to the execution of a global user-centered design strategy and process that ensures ease-of-use and consistency across GE Healthcare products. Serving as a consulting resource for user experience issues. Working with Quality&Regulatory teams to ensure medical regulatory requirements are integrated within the product development process. Helping to define project plans and managing ongoing execution of projects. Representative deliverables include project schedules, resource allocation, and budgets. Projects will incorporate a mix of internal staff and external consultants. Acting as a leader and mentor of others on the design team by creating opportunities for them to apply, grow, and showcase their skills. **Qualifications/Requirements:** Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, UX Design, Engineering or Cognitive/Experimental Psychology with a concentration in Design Research and Planning, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field of study Eight to ten years progressive experience as a design research specialist, human-computer interaction specialist, or related design role. Track record of successfully conceptualizing and executing user experience projects through a comprehensive user-centered design process that includes qualitative research, formative and summative testing,prototyping, heuristic assessment, application of research literature, and generation of design requirements. Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and work within a structured process. Strong communications (written and verbal), negotiation, and problem solving skills. Strong level of self-motivation and ability to work independently. Proficiency in design-related software, such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%, including overnight stays. U.S. (Country) Specific Qualifications: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time without sponsorship **Desired Characteristics:** Master's degree in Industrial Design or Engineering or Cognitive/Experimental Psychology with a concentration in Design Research and Planning, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field of study. Experience working within the consumer products and healthcare/medical devices sectors. Experience in both corporate environment and agency/consultancy. Skilled at applying both design and research methods to data gathering, analysis and synthesis. Experience working within global, cross-functional teams, particularly industrial designers and/or user experience designers. Track record of developing and executing user experience strategies and processes. Demonstrable experience with translating research findings and insights into business opportunities, design ideas and user interface concepts. Familiarity with ISO, FDA and other regulatory standards. Track record of generating intellectual property.
