Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, a multinational law company with a New York City headquarters, has filed for bankruptcy. Some of the firm's executives were charged with fraud for allegedly falsifying the company's books in order to get loans while concealing the company's financial woes. Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP merged with Dewey Ballantine LLP and LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP on October 1, 2007, and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2012. The firm was dissolved when the liquidation plan was authorized in February 2013. Dewey & LeBoeuf's corporate dealt with tax, litigation, insurance, litigation, and restructuring practices. It employed nearly 1,000 lawyers in 26 offices throughout the world at the time of its bankruptcy filing.
