The first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit was opened in Dallas in 1941, and in the beginning, it was truly a family business with Travis working at the block and Miss Ollie Dickey acting as a server. The restaurant began franchise operations in 1994, and Roland Dickey Jr. was appointment the chain’s CEO in 2006.
