CAAR primarily serves students through their sophomore year, at which point students are typically transitioned to faculty advising. This position will design, implement, evaluate, and provide reporting for programs intended to promote student persistence and graduation as designated by the Assistant Vice President of Student Success. Six years’ of progressively responsible experience managing academic support programs. Four years’ experience supervising employees. Demonstrated ability to work in a positive manner to build partnerships and collaboration across campus, and multiple locations, and work effectively in support of academic advising. Demonstrated experience using EAB Navigate, or similar student success technology, and other computer technologies such as databases, internet, spreadsheets, tracking systems, and word processing. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and time while under pressure to meet deadlines. Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate degree in related fields such as adult education, academic advising, higher education administration or leadership, or counseling. Four years’ professional advising experience of students in a college or university setting which includes a focus on advising, persistence, retention, or student success programs. Collect and analyze data to determine student barriers to retention and graduation in collaboration with Director of EagleCare Network and Degree Completion (ENDC) and in alignment with the vision of the Assistant Vice President of Student Success with a focus on undergraduate students advised in CAAR in both Cheney and Spokane. Serve as point of contact for receiving and validating information from Institutional Research. Create, implement, and assess strategic, data-informed retention and graduation strategies and initiatives in conjunction with Director of ENDC in alignment with the vision of the Assistant Vice President of Student Success with a focus on undergraduate students advised in CAAR in both Cheney and Spokane. Set ambitious short-term and long-term goals in line with the Undergraduate Policy and Planning unit’s strategic growth plan and strive to exceed these goals in collaboration with the Student Success Leadership Team. Lead the creation and implementation of consistent processes and procedures that ensure a clear path to graduation for undergraduate students with a special focus on students assigned to professional advisors. Report regularly to the Assistant Vice President on retention and graduation efforts and other topics as requested. Essential Function IndicatorYes Job Duties % of Time40Responsibility / Duty PROGRAMMATIC: Provide ongoing leadership, management, support, training, and direction to Associate Director and CAAR Senior Advisors with special attention to advising quality in CAAR and eliminating student barriers to retention, progress to degree and graduation. Manage the day-to-day operations of CAAR, including implementing and maintaining appropriate operational infrastructure, inventories, appropriate office coverage levels, and office policies and procedures for both Cheney and Spokane. Ensure accuracy of applicable websites. Lead the delivery of comprehensive student-centered, strengths-based, proactive, academic advising services with a focus on students assigned to CAAR for academic advising and support. Provide leadership, intensive oversight, consultation, and evaluation of the delivery of all CAAR services in Cheney and Spokane. Support the communication and training needs of all off-campus locations. Oversee the advising and course assignment processes of EWU’s new student onboarding. Create and maintain a professional, supportive and student-centered culture in CAAR.
