What does a Director of Housekeeping do?

As Directors of Housekeeping, we are responsible for directing and maintaining housekeeping activities as per established standards. We ensure that departmental staff is performing regular duties promptly. We build policies to enhance the flow of guest's and colleague's activity. Establishing positive relationships with guests and vendors is also a part of our duty. We handle all guest communications in a professional manner. Working as Directors of Housekeeping, we are responsible for resolving all guest complaints using the guest opportunity process. We attend safety and other training meetings as required. Finally, we ensure that reporting of all lost and found items is following hotel standards.

  • creating working relationships with all levels of hotel associates
  • establishing safe working conditions
  • conducting regular inspections to ensure cleanliness
  • ensuring that staff is using all equipment properly
