In an effort to meet the needs of our fast-paced and growing organization, Octo Consulting Group is in need of a Director of Human Resources to support our corporate needs. The work location will be at our headquarters site in Reston, VA. We are seeking an energetic individual that is eager to be a part of an entrepreneurial, culture-driven company.? Successful candidates will be highly collaborative, employee centric, business-focused and customer service oriented. The individual would have to be flexible, reliable, trustworthy, and have excellent time, communication, and organizational skills with a detailed, hands-on knowledge of all relevant HR business processes. This opportunity is perfect for a SPHR certified individual with 10-12 years of progressive HR management experience, with tenure in a small-to-medium sized company within the Government Contracting arena.



Responsibilities:




  • As a member of the management team, the HR Director will fully participate in strategic planning, and developing business solutions for the company.


  • The primary focus of this position will be to deliver HR excellence in compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, EEO and Affirmative Action planning, employee learning and development, performance management, staffing and retention, work place of choice, and special projects supporting the company.


  • Oversight of all HR functions and Recruiting


  • Manage HR operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.


  • Address HR legal issues foremost within the company and then work with outside counsel as needed


  • Overall responsibility for human resources related immigration processes and documentation including interfacing with Octo?s immigration attorney


  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.


  • The candidate will lead the definition, development and overall management of a job classification and position description framework consistent with the company?s core capabilities


  • The candidate will lead employee outreach and relations to ensure a high level of employee satisfaction and minimum voluntary attrition through activities, initiatives and communication


  • The candidate will lead and facilitate the company?s merit, compensation incentive and annual review programs


  • Oversight for Octo?s semi-annual bonus program


  • The candidate will ensure timely record keeping of all employee and HR related collateral


  • The candidate will ensure accurate and timely set-up of payroll and benefits


  • The candidate will serve as an advisor to line management on a full range of HR and related business subjects, and will act as the key facilitator and communicator in implementing HR programs within the organization.


  • The candidate will facilitate the interpretation of Company policies related to HR issues and ensure development of the HR organization.


  • Ensures the company complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to government contracting-specific HR and staffing ?requirements; advising management on needed actions.


  • As needed, the candidate will apply HR experience in the area of incumbent capture management and issue resolution during program transitions.


  • Additionally and as needed, the candidate will occasionally participate in proposal development such as fringe benefit analysis, and corresponding HR sections of the management and cost volumes.




  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive human resources experience, and minimum of 7 of experience in a management role


  • Demonstrated background in employee relations including investigations and corrective practices, performance management, training and development, and staffing and retention required


  • Well versed in Federal, State and local laws and regulations affecting HR and the hiring process.


  • Supervisory experience leading and developing an HR team including the ability to inspire, motivate, influence, and hold colleagues accountable to high standards.


  • Excellent interpersonal skills: customer service orientation; ability to function effectively as team member and team leader; keen sensitivity, and demonstrated ability to establish respect, credibility, and trust at all levels of the organization including staff, senior management and members.? Also analytical ability, problem solving skills, presentation development and delivery


  • The candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple workload priorities.


  • Attention to detail, process oriented, high level of proficiency in organizational and prioritization skills


  • Should have moderate level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint


  • Exceptional communication skills ? verbal, written, presentation, and team facilitation


  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality


  • Reports to Chief Financial Officer (CFO)


  • Opportunity to advance to VP, with superior performance and requisite experience



Minimum Education:




  • Bachelor?s in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar field.


  • The following certifications are strongly preferred


    • Professional in Human Resources (PHR?)


    • Senior Professional in Human Resources?? (SPHR?)


    • Human Resource Management Professional (HRMP)


    • Human Resource Business Professional (HRBP)
