About Director of Learning and Development

What does a Director of Learning and Development do?

As Directors of Learning and Developments, we are responsible for directing and leading the employee-centric and result-oriented learning as per organizational standards. We design development programs and initiatives. We also deliver and implement these initiatives to optimize the performance of employees. Aligning learning patterns with business needs is also part of our duty. We assist human resource teams in hiring and interviewing candidates. We also build a long-term strategy and roadmap by creating online and in-person tools for L&Ds. Working as Directors of Learning and Developments, we are responsible for managing all these operations within pre-established budgetary limits. We also analyze performance submitted by managers. Finally, we coordinate with HR and IT departments to build learning management systems.

Core tasks:

  • improving and updating programs with changing organizational needs
  • evaluating and measuring the impact of potential improvement initiatives
  • collaborating with colleagues on off-site meetings to share current market trends
  • assisting managers in developing their teams through proper career planning
