About Director OF Oncology

What does a Director OF Oncology do?

As Directors of Oncology, we oversee the oncology service line with direct responsibility. We manage all aspects of the outpatient Oncology Services. We provide and improve multidisciplinary care and services. We are accountable for the direction, management, and development of the staff. We are responsible for administering the department budget and policy development. We take part in performance improvement and promote customer service programs. We develop and implement annual department goals. We also conduct an annual assessment of nursing policies and procedures.

Core tasks:

  • educate the staff about the application of policies and procedures
  • ensure ongoing understanding and compliance
  • supervise and assess staff competencies
  • evaluate and educate staff
  • collaborate with Human Resources to recruit the most qualified individuals
  • conducts performance reviews and identify areas of improvement
  • set goals relative to the needs of the department and individuals
  • evaluate the results of quality assurance to monitor important trends
  • assess the clinical proficiency of all clinical center personnel
