This integral individual will drive strategy definition, planning and execution for the global sourcing team. The successful candidate will be a “change agent” with extensive background in leading sourcing, quality and advanced planning initiatives for a global well-regarded supply chain. The responsibility covers a spend of about $300M, 300 direct material suppliers and 9000part numbers sourced for 4 locations. Job Responsibilities: Commodity Management Assume ultimate ownership of all commercial relationships with suppliers. Secure targeted levels of cost, quality, delivery precision, sustainability, etc. Develop a long-term strategy of how to deliver the greatest value Drive value by implementing strategic sourcing and entering into cost efficient agreements that fulfill supply requirements, by using a systematic methodology and a continuous total cost of ownership focus. Oversee the negotiation, development and maintenance of vendor agreements. Lead critical negotiations Manage supplier relationships to drive supplier performance, contract effectiveness, collaboration and integration and deliver improved results. Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key vendors with the objective of reducing costs and eliminating efficiencies Ensuring alignment to the commodity strategy and plan. Ensure commodity teams share leading practices and lessons learned, use consistent methodologies, and pursue deliverables that are aligned with the corporate, purchasing and commodity objectives; develop the professional, industry, purchasing and commodity skills of the team Foster collaborative relationships with internal customers (operations, engineering, marketing, and supply chain) and other functions to ensure continuous improvement and service levels commitments are met Conduct PPV activities, budgeting (Including PPV and OMV), and annual price negotiations as well as low cost supplier initiatives. New Product Development (NPD) Work to ensure sourcing is an integrated part of every new product development project, and that sourcing is involved at an early stage Manage supplier relations and secure commercial agreements in the NPD process to ensure secured cost, quality, time-to-market as well as launch readiness project targets are met Participate in Make or Buy decisions and provide a commercial and sourcing perspective in such decisions Manage project risk, timeliness and work to ensure overall project transparency Work together with the global quality, manufacturing, and NPD teams to establish an effective one way of working regarding supplier quality assurance and development Responsible for establishing, maintaining and improving the supplier quality and development system Perform audits on new and existing suppliers with the purpose of evaluating the expected quality performance of the supplier, and provide relevant information into supplier selection decisions and commodity management Identify high risk, and critical to quality, suppliers and establish quality control approaches and supplier development plans with relevant suppliers assuring increasing supplier’s process maturity and outstanding product quality throughout the product life cycle Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering or other relevant discipline with a minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience (at least 5 years in international sourcing/purchasing in a consumer goods industry). Master’s degree is preferred Prior managerial experience required Strong leadership and project management skills required Fluency in English is required (written and oral). Fluency in additional languages, e.q. Chinese, Spanish, or others is preferred. Physical Requirements: Domestic and International travel is required up to 25% Perform work at a desk, and walking in and around manufacturing facilities Qualifications Education Required Bachelors or better.
