About District Manager

What does a District Manager do?

As district managers, we are the key liaison between a company’s headquarters and our assigned area branches/sites. We usually work in the retail, production, or service industry. We manage operational practices, ensuring budget and sales goals are achieved. We train, motivate, and direct the activities of branch managers. Our primary goal is to make sure that company practices and policies are understood at all branches in our territory.

Core tasks:

  • supporting branch managers in day-to-day operations
  • coaching and developing team members
  • developing talent pool by performance management and succession planning
  • tracking metrics to measure success
  • developing strategies to improve quality
  • overseeing upward reporting to ensure leadership is connected to the field
  • serving as the liaison between leadership, local territory execution and other leadership partners
  • involvement in the interview, hiring, and on-boarding process
  • ensuring branches are operating at appropriate staffing levels and anticipate needs
  • assisting in the launch of new sites within district
