Duquesne University is a private catholic university which furnishes a well-rounded education challenging and nourishing the students spiritually and ethically. It was ranked number 16 among 61 small research universities according to The Chronicle of Higher Education that were rated according to an index measuring faculty productivity. It has a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1 with an academic experience hallmarked by personal attention from an award-winning faculty. The university was originated in October 1878 by the members of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit with an enrollment of 40 students and a faculty of six. Currently, it has expanded to over 9,300 graduate and undergraduate students within self-contained 49-acre hilltop campus in Pittsburgh’s Bluff neighborhood.
