About Educational Specialist

What does an Educational Specialist do?

As Educational Specialists, we plan and coordinate public, professional, or related educational programs. We develop curricula and prepare relevant presentations and materials. Organizing and delivering workshops, seminars, and other training services is our duty. We provide student advisement and associated services as appropriate. Some of us research and prepare grant proposals or promotional material. We plan and design curricula for educational programs. Researching and defining educational goals and methodologies is our job. We determine formats to achieve program and budget objectives.

Core tasks:

  • define needs of target populations
  • research trends at the national and state level
  • coordinate activities of support staff, faculty, and volunteers
  • manage and facilitates program activities
  • provide student advisement and support services
  • coordinate curriculum, and act as a student liaison
  • monitor program revenues and expenses
  • develop the development of funding proposals for the program
  • coordinate development of course catalogs

Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate
