About Emergency Management Coordinator

What does an Emergency Management Coordinator do?

We, the emergency management coordinators, directly respond to disaster management tasks, provide relevant training to fight against disaster, design plan of action for emergency situations, make procedures for natural, (e.g., earthquakes, hurricanes, floods), wartime, or technological (i.e. spillage of hazardous materials and emergencies surrounding nuclear power plant) disasters or situations like a hostage. We conduct consultation sessions with higher officials of schools, hospitals, and other institutions to know what they need in the time of crisis.

Core tasks:

  • conducting surveys to determine the emergency-related needs
  • developing and performing evaluations and tests of emergency management plans
  • maintaining and updating resource materials connected with emergency preparedness plans
  • preparing and revising emergency operation plans
  • assisting in the assessment of damages to the community
