About Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

What does an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator do?

We, as emergency preparedness coordinators, coordinate with staff to design and maintain plans for public health emergency response. Our duties include making standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manuals by utilizing state, federal, and local regulatory guidelines and requirements to make sure designed plans are integrated with emergency response guidelines of other agencies. Supervising staff, delegating and reviewing work, training staff, conducting staff meetings regularly to coordinate plans & goals, and monitoring progress are also part of our job.

Core tasks:

  • developing an annual budget and work plans
  • monitoring compliance with expenditures and grant
  • preparing financial progress reports
  • assisting staff in the preparation of grant reports
