Job Description

•Job Summary Responsible for screening, interviewing, testing, and referring applicants for all positions at McDonough District Hospital. Analyzes the information provided on a prospective employee’s application form to determine the suitability of the applicant for employment. In cases where the applicant is judged unqualified, tactfully turns the applicant away. Performs reference investigation, i.e., prior employment references, transcripts, etc., to gain adequate information on which to base a selection decision. Conducts interviews, informing applicants of job duties, working conditions, pay, benefits, and promotional opportunities. Keeps informed about equal employment opportunity ( EEO ) and laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act. Maintains excellent relations with hiring managers, candidates, and the community at-large. Coordinates MDH’s worker’s compensation program. Provides assistance in all areas of the Human Resources Department, including exit interviews, employee benefit record keeping systems, etc. •Job Specifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field or three years’ experience in Human Resources preferred. JOB KNOWLEDGE : General knowledge of Human Resources Management and office management principles. Satisfactory mathematical, computer, and clerical skills . Intermediate knowledge of Microsolft Office Suite of applications and the use of e-mail. Must be Internet savvy and experience in mining online databases. ABILITIES , INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS 1. Must be able to manage competing demands, accept criticism and constructive feedback, while being extremely adaptable and flexible. 2. Excellent project management, writing, and oral communications skills are required. 3. Demonstrated ability to recruit for a broad range of positions. 4. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. 5. Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills 6. Must have the ability to quickly learn systems, processes, and procedures. 7. Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment. 8. Ability to maintain necessary records. 9. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of applications. 10. A commitment to strive for optimal skills and greater competencies. 11. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintaining positive working relationships with HR staff, MDH employees, Leaders, and others. 12. Demonstrates commitment and loyalty to the hospital and Human Resources. 13. Proven ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize in order to meet deadlines. 14. Excellent listening and interpersonal skills. 15. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).

  • Hire employees and process hiring-related paperwork.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.

  • Personnel and Human ResourcesKnowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
