Job Summary: The qualified candidate will be responsible for leading the design and computational simulation/optimization efforts for ventilation fan systems of both new and existing products. The qualified candidate will be tasked to understand and determine trade-offs between performance, efficiency and cost. The candidate should be knowledgeable in all aspects of fan and blower design, CFD and FEA analysis, and validation testing. Job Responsibilities: Develop simplified models, mesh, and separate geometry for proper Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation.Conduct CFD and FEA analysis for new and existing mechanical systems, optimizing the design for performance while considering cost, manufacturability, and reliability.Summarize and provide accurate and detailed reports of CFD and FEA results, and make design recommendations to the product development team.Coordinate schedules with product development teams to make sure that the simulation results can be used to support timely design decisions.Continually improve the modeling and analysis techniques to increase the correlation between experiment and simulation.Ensure that product design and performance meets technical and functional requirements.Drive optimization, robustness, and functional performance of product packaging solutions through the use of high-end computational analyses.Verify analysis results with physical lab testing results.Create, develop, implement, and follow best practices for accurate computational efficiency.Manage the overall project roadmap workload for simulation activities and assign work to other available internal resources as required.Support the selection and lead the management of external partners required for outsourced FEA and CFD support as required when internal resources cannot meet demand.Aid in development of new methods and technology for CFD, FEA, and other simulation analysis and deploy throughout the global organization.Research new technologies related to air movement.Lead and participate in technical design reviews.Contribute to design standards and support design reuse.Design of experiment (DOE) planning, execution, presentation and documentation.Collaborate with global cross-functional teams. Job Requirements: Strong working knowledge of FEA and CFD simulation.Knowledge of ProEngineer (Creo).Knowledge of FloEFD, OpenFOAM, and/or other tools for CFD simulation.Ability to come up with new solutions based on analysis and modify designs for evaluation.Must be able to work within framework of budget.High level of demonstrated interpersonal skills, combined with excellent oral and written communication and presentation skillsCreative, analytical thinker with a capacity for detailProven ability to juggle multiple tasks while keeping up with aggressive timelinesStrong knowledge of acoustics and vibration principles and an understanding of forced excitation and how motion of mechanical systems turns into radiated noise.Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE)A good understanding of manufacturing techniques.Confidence to autonomously assess and use design, engineering and scientific judgement to define tailored approaches to projects and program.Must have a mindset to meet all program deliverables on time with quality.Ability to work alone and in a team environment.Understanding of product package design and simulation (vibration and impact). Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in fluid mechanics and/or aerodynamics.Minimum of 7 years directly related to simulation experience specific to state of the art fan aerodynamic design.Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering a plus. Demonstrated technical contributions to the field including patents and/or publications.
