Equifax is an American multinational consumer credit reporting agency which was founded by Cator and Guy Woolford in 1899 as a retail credit company with its headquarters based in Atlanta, Georgia. The company enlarged into monetary credit reports on companies in the United States, Canada, and the U.K, where it competed with the companies such as Dun & Bradstreet and Experian. It is one of the three supreme consumer credit reporting agencies along with Experian and TransUnion. The company collects and aggregates information on over 800 million individual consumers and more than 88 million businesses globally. In addition to credit and demographic data and services to business, it also sells credit monitoring and fraud prevention services to consumers directly. Equifax operates in 24 countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific with over 10,000 employees globally and has US $3.1 billion in annual revenue and is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol EFX. It also offers commercial credit reports containing financial and non-financial data on businesses of all sizes.
