Job Description
Position Summary Know Your Stuff: Learn, model, promote and consistently enforce policies for the Department of Recreational Sports
Communicate Like a Pro: Professionally and proactively communicate with your teammates, supervisors and administrative staff
Stay Sharp: Maintain required certifications and attend orientation sessions, staff meetings and Director’s Retreat as directed
Seek Solutions: Provide quality customer service to all patrons and search for a “path to yes” when possible and aligned with mission
Deliver a Positive Experience: Maintain and promote a safe and fun environment for all participants and staff
Engage & Grow: Participate in the On-Ramp career readiness program while developing transferable skills with a “growth mindset”
Perform building and equipment preventative maintenance tasks
Assist in the repair of building systems and equipment
Assist in the repair of the building systems (pumps, motors, control systems, lighting systems, etc.
Assist with general building maintenance and replace light bulbs throughout building
Perform electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks with minimal supervision
Minimum Qualifications Previous repair and/or mechanical experience
Awareness of safety concerns and risk management
*Awareness and appreciation of individual uniqueness and diversity
Ability to work in inclement conditions to perform maintenance tasks
Awareness and knowledge of basic personal protective equipment (PPE) involved in performing maintenance tasks
Capable to perform assigned job duties at heights above 10 feet when required
Excellent oral and written communication skills

This recruitment will be used to fill two part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Facility Maintenance Associate position
for Recreational Sports at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Maintenance Staff is responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs to the Department of Recreational Sports facilities. This position assists with equipment and facility repairs. This is a demanding, high-volume position with an emphasis on customer service, satisfaction and positive relations. Additionally, all Department of Recreational Sports employees are expected to provide a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for participants at all times and are required to achieve Professional Rescuer CPR, Standard First Aid and Blood borne Pathogens certification before employment begins. This position offers some additional technical skills.

Additional Required QualificationsFirst Aid, CPR/AED for the Healthcare Provider and DRS Bloodborne Pathogens certifications is required before employment begins
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Period of Employment: One academic year (contingent employment is dependent upon satisfactory completion of a 30 day probationary period and satisfactory job performance as evaluated by immediate supervisor).
Compensation: Student employees are paid a wage consistent with the OSU Student Employment Pay Rate Guidelines. The Department of Recreational Sports identifies pay based upon job duties, level of responsibility and complexity of work to be performed.

TASKS
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
- Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.

- English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
