What does a Facility Manager do?

As facility managers, we oversee all activities related to the physical infrastructure of an organization. We are responsible for preserving its good condition and ensuring that they are safe and well functioning. We also advocate for safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. In short, our goal is to ensure our organization's locations are problem-free in every respect, so that employees can work under the best conditions.

Core tasks:

  • supervising multi-disciplinary teams of staff including technicians, security, cleaning, etc.
  • negotiating and managing contracts and providers for services
  • managing budgets
  • ensuring facilities meet regulatory requirements and standards
  • overseeing building projects such as renovations
  • acting as escalation point for all facilities-related issues
  • preparing reports and recommendations to management
