Ms. Myra is a sweet boss and is very nice and kind. She has ways that she wants things done to the T. She is very strong minded and strong at heart.

I worked at three different locations. The managers for each were extremely different from one another. Differences caused a great deal of inside manipulation at the MtEnterprise Tx store and that was my last working with family dollar. All said and done, I love 99% of the people I worked with over the years. I have always enjoyed retail and the customers.

I had fun with the staff and customers. Assisting others is my passion! I enjoyed it and mind it! I just wish my work schedule was set and not to much confusion!

The location I worked at was especially tough. Customers would just walk right in and walk right out with stuff that they stole. There should have been a security officer there for us. I had my employees attacked by customers and another manager there. They had to go to the hospital because they were bitten.

i really enjoyed working here simply because of management a great leader made this job so less stressful.

It was great working with the company was sad to leave I was pregnant. I wanted to go back and that was the plan but I got a better position with the state

At Family Dollar, the Store Manager role promises a decent paycheck compared to the crew, but it's a pittance considering the sheer workload dumped on you. The company's notion of 'working managers' translates to exploiting you while keeping replacements on standby for when things inevitably go wrong – which is alarmingly often. Despite being praised at quarterly meetings, managers frequently find themselves unceremoniously terminated shortly after receiving commendations. As for work-life balance, forget it. The payroll budget allocated is a cruel joke, leaving managers scrambling to cover the labor deficit themselves, all while being guilt-tripped by their District Managers. This cycle of exploitation and burnout continues until managers wise up and walk away, realizing that their well-being matters more than Family Dollar's bottom line.

I was wrongfully fired, I was supposed to get my job back but they played around with me, had me do the job application over and all.

Not much balance with work and life. People are under paid. Store Mangers will have days working alone with no support.

Solid place to work can move up quickly can be stressful from a management standpoint. Pay was decent.

I loved working for this company. I had fun and enjoyed being there. I was disappointed when they closed the store.

I enjoy working retail but the pay and hours are not good. I was hired as an assistant manager from the start which was good but growth is limited due to each store only having one manager. The only way to grow with the company is to relocate unless the store manager quits or is fired. Even then the district managers usually higher new store managers externally.

I was hired as a cashier and was a store manager within 2 years. As a manager the pay is decent and you get bonuses every month if you meet your sales plan for your store. You also get bonuses quarterly and yearly with pay raises once a year. You are salary so the hours are long. When I was there we were required to work 52 hours a week. Since you were salary most weeks I worked more than that. The work and home life balance did not balance! As a cashier for the company the hours are minimal and the workload is high making it difficult to get everything done. The pay is not great.

this company is under payed and it is an unsafe place to work in. If you not a manger they really don't care about you or your safety at all. They pay suck you do a lot of work to get payed nothing

I did not expect to become a cashier that I did not apply for a cashier position. Another story I want to give out is the fact I remember I work for 11 days straight for 8 hours and my payment came out to $500.00, at that point I was on my tipping point of leaving my job, but that didn't make me want to leave the job. What actually make me want to leave the job was when my manager yell and curse at me becase my boss refuse to listen to what the customer says.

100 hours per week, because my DM wouldnt give a budget for more than 2 or 3 people at minimum wage. You are expected to do the job of 5 or 6 people every day.

Close to home. Working together with the same mind set, of getting the job done in a manner that is pleasing to yrself and other. Keep politics out of the work place. Remembering that we are TEAM, and we are working together to be proud of what we accomplishing. Keep radical out of the work place. Remember we all Gods children and we must work together for his good.

Initially excited to work here. Quickly found out that what was highlighted upon interview was different than reality. Invested money to get drivers licenses w promise of promotion and better hours. Hours as a management member were still under full time between 18-25 a week. Expectations exceeded human possibilities w 2 people trying to be stockers and customer service on shipment days. The store was always dirty and disorganized w stock on u boats throughout. Bonuses were not shared, and customer service was not a priority. This was a terrible work environment with no real breaks or incentive to employees

Helped set the store, yet with years of retail experience, was not kept on for employment after opening, over young girls sleeping with the set up crew manager

Well when I first started it was going really good except my pay was $8.25, then I became an assistant manager and the pay went up to $13 but the district manger was racist, they only care about themselves & the customers were very very very rude.

Didn’t get hours as much and they had me doing stuff that I wasn’t supposed to be working for everything just wasn’t right

They would not make the accomodations for you per your doctor request.. they only gave you one break during your shift.

It was a fun place to work but the pay wasn't enough for a manager being in the store by their self all the time and the store manager not allowing anyone else to work with you because of there budget.

I was the assistant manager. I was pregnant at the time. I had trouble getting my leave. They only allowed me 4 weeks. I came back full time. After 4 months back I was robbed at gun point. I handed my keys in the next day

Not a bad job at all. Everyone is good to you. Hours are there. Easy to advance for higher position

Family Dollar did it pay well for the amount of work they wanted out of you. The time taken away of you having any kind of life outside retail management with this company was not possible.

Extremely overworked, unrealistic expectations, Family Dollar is not a company that cares about their employees but will quickly expect you to be willing to sacrifice your entire life to them.

Inconsistent hours, very fast turn around rate, no repercussions when reprimanded, brand standard isn’t actually a thing and corporate bosses pick favorites

People stealing and treated to kill you, no security at the job they schedule only for the night shift only the assistant manager and 1 cashier.

Between being worked to death by store manager, who consistently tried to violate doctor orders, crappy entitled customers, and being expected to do the job of 3 people for only 9$ an hour, with no set schedule. Constant rewriting of the schedule, plus revolving door of workers, I will never written or shop there or dollar tree ever again

In the year I worked for this company we got held up 8 times in 2 months and the company did nothing to ensure the safety of the people working there. The theft rate is high, and they do not prosecute those who steal when caught just giving them a slap on the hand and told not to return. The hours suck, the pay is low and the managers most of the time were off smoking instead of looking after the store.

Work you 80 hours a week on salary. 6 days a week mandatory and if you don’t have employees you’re working more. No credit where deserved

I started out here as a cashier and quickly moved to assistant manager. Shortly thereafter I became manager.

This was my part time job I already a full time and another part-time job. I worked there for a year. Loved my manager, she worked around my schedule and delegated work tasks fairly. She left and the store went downhill. Pay is not great for grown adults with kids and other responsibilities. It can be an ok second job for many.

Very helpful coworkers, friendly, easy going and all around great job and location. Small sized store so not to hard to handle with stocking or keeping your eyes on things.

I got some good work experience, at different locations, and met some nice poeple working for this company.

When I started I found out I was pregnant. My manager got mad saying I lied to her and she should fire me then and there. I didn't lie because I didn't know but I still unloaded the trucks by myself at both stores in Laurel no help from the older ladies that worked there. The doctor took me out when it got closer to me having my daughter and I was told to call or come in when I was able to come back needless to say I was out of work intil i stated another job. So sad when you are counting on that income because it was the only income.

I moved up very quickly from a Cashier to Assistant Manager within 3 weeks. I was Transferred to the Dollar Tree side within 2 months and became the Operation Manager in the field. The company needs to pay their associates more.

Worst job i ever had. Stealing, no support from management, pay sucked. Never again will i subject myself to the way i was treated by Family Dollar Company

It was a nice play to work I stocked the store if there where no customers and I also was the cashier whenever customers entered the store

I was impressed with the hiring process, but the training I had with the assistant manager on my second day of employment did not go so well. I felt that all the negative comments toward other employees should not being said. This left me feeling uncomfortable .At last the pay rate sucks!! Although if they would increase pay rate I would consider employment again. With a new trainer

District Manager was not helpful in expediting hiring process or support in training employees. Store managers were held responsible for theft even when two employees could only be working at a time.

Horrible GM experience, hardly any days off, could barely take off if personal emergency GM's have attitude and think they are better than you

In today's retail environment, these companys that are in the dollar business have the potential to keep growing, even in a down market.
