About Family Nurse Practitioner

What does a Family Nurse Practitioner do?

As Family Nurse Practitioners, we are responsible for providing medical and medication evaluation and management for patients. We perform an initial screening and physical examination of the patient. We also interpret and analyze medical report results. Entering patient information into an electronic system is a part of our duty. We respond to emergency conditions with patients and families. We also maintain medical safety protocols. Working as Family Nurse Practitioners, we are responsible for directing patients to laboratories and X-ray labs. Some of us also assist in collecting lab samples. Finally, we ensure that medical procedures are in-line with governmental and organizational standards and policies.

Core tasks:

  • participating in the development and improvement of policies
  • performing medical assessments for the patients
  • developing, executing, and reviewing healthcare education delivered to patients and their families
  • ensuring implementation of standard policies and procedures
